R v Andrews 1997
The defendant, Tracie Andrews, had been lying in the media. She claimed her fiancé had been the victim of a road rage attack and appealed for witnesses to come forward. In fact she had stabbed him. The defence barrister wished to vet the jury to see if they had been exposed to the media coverage as this may give them a negative view of the defendant. The court held that jury vetting was not permitted.
